What are the Benefits of EDP?

Because it was designed especially for adults, the External Diploma Program:

· Is self-paced

· Requires competence, but does not require in-class attendance

· Is conducted through one-to-one appointments with trained assessors

· Offers flexible scheduling

· Allows you to choose your own instructional resources

· can be administered confidentially

The EDP provides adults with an opportunity to earn a traditional high school diploma in a non-traditional, non-threatening atmosphere.

What is the EDP Process?

Free Information Session Diagnostic Assessment Generalized Assessment Individualized Assessment Post-Task Assessment

Portfolio Review

Awarding of Diploma

Each EDP applicant must attend a free information session to hear the program described, in detail, by a trained EDP assessor.  Following registration, your advisor will assess what you already know and determine which areas require additional help.  Adults who need to review skills are referred to a local learning center.

Generalized life skill competencies and one individualized competency are demonstrated during the assessment phase of the EDP.  When all competencies have been demonstrated with 100% accuracy, a traditional high school diploma is awarded by Paintsville High School.

...Because Competence Deserves Recognition!
