Vocational Behavioral Enhancement (VBE) Program

The purpose of the VBE is to teach and reinforce expected workplace behaviors that assist in preparing students for employment settings.  Students are expected to comply with all of the program’s behavioral expectations while at the facility or during supervised activities off campus grounds.

VBE is an important teaching tool at the Center.  Through VBE, the facility seeks to structure an environment in which appropriate work and social behaviors are positively reinforced and inappropriate behaviors have fair and immediate consequences.

Conduct standards are organized into four groups, with Group IV behaviors being the least serious, and Group I behaviors being the most serious.  Consequences have been given for each group.  Staff attempt, whenever possible, to assist students change undesirable bhaviors through supportive counseling, change plans, and/or behavioral contracts.

Students can be discharged for failing to comply with the guidelines of VBE if the behavior is serious or if attempts by staff to assist the student change the undesirable behavior(s) have been unsuccessful.  Students have appeal rights included as part of the VBE program if they feel they have been treated unfairly.

Consumers receive an orientation to the VBE program when they arrive at the facility.  Center staff will be happy to discuss the program with prospective students and their families.
